People take all kinds of dubious vitamin preparations on the advice of influencers with support. Or you pick up a few jars of multivitamins sold at the local drugstore, and do not pay attention to the specified daily dose. If it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t hurt…right? Nothing could be further from the truth: the Lareb Side Effects Center warns that people sometimes overdose on pills containing vitamin B6. So they can suffer nerve damage. “The complaints can be recognized by tingling, a feeling of numbness or pain in the hands and / or feet,” Lareb reports. So he advises people to be very careful with the supplements.
The human body needs vitamin B6 to maintain the immune system and the nervous system. The body cannot make the substance itself, we take it in by eating meat, eggs, fish, bread, legumes, potatoes and dairy products. The body needs about 1.5 milligrams of vitamin B6 per day. Most people just get it through food and drink, says Lareb, but many people still take supplements. It can be up to 21 milligrams per day.
Since 2007, Lareb says he has received 238 reports of people who suffered nerve damage as a result of vitamin B6. The youngest person at the time was 3 years old, the oldest was 92, and three quarters were women. More than 80 people say they improved after they stopped taking supplements.
