The pre-trial hearing for the trial against began yesterday morning (Monday 11 November). Luca Stradiottoa 41-year-old insurance broker, for whom the Ferrara Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a summons to trial on charges of fraud against clients he was treating at the time on behalf of Assicurazioni Generali (a company for which he has no longer worked since 2020) .
We talk about five people offended by the alleged crime. According to the accusation supported by prosecutor Stefano Longhi, who coordinated the investigations by the Guardia di Finanza of Ferrara, Stradiotto he would have convinced them to sign up for policies that were never requested or in any case with content different from that expected.
In this way the professional, in addition to earning commissions for the stipulation of the relevant contracts, he also profited from commissions that the insurance guaranteed for the high performance of achieving company objectives.
Stradiotto, who with his agency is also a partner and sponsor of various city events next to the Municipality of Ferrara. he collaborated closely with the Fabbri administration for one of the major Christmas events in the Gad area and for the Palio initiatives. So much so that the case was also the subject of a question to the mayor by Ilaria Baraldi, then PD councilor.
It was the agency itself that notified its customers via certified e-mailafter i facts highlighted by the Auditing of the general management of the insurance companywhose inspection service culminated in 2020 with “suspension and then removal for just cause – specified the same agency -, preceded by a few hours by the (obvious) voluntary resignation of the subject”.
In light of those behaviors, the supervisory body of the insurance sector, Ivass, Intermediaries section Registro Unico Rui. He had imposed the sanction of censorship on Stradiotto. And this for irregularities relating to “conclusion of policies that do not comply with the requests and needs of the policyholders” and “failure to comply with pre-contractual information rules”.
During yesterday’s hearing, the five offended people – assisted by lawyers Salvatore Mirabile and Marcello Vescovi – yes constitute a civil partyas well as Codacons represented by the lawyer Beatrice Capri. The lawyers Mirabile and Capri also requested the summons of the civilly liable parties and, therefore, called into question Generali Spa and the agency of the same insurance company in via Baluardi. Yes will return to court on February 24when – as announced – Stradiotto’s defense should advance one probable exception of territorial incompetence to move the trial elsewhere.
On this aspect, the lawyer Salvatore Mirabile commented: “Stradiotto wants to escape from Ferrara and wants to avoid being judged in Ferrara, where he still works. If I were him, I would have stayed here, in the city, to give my clients a chance to come to trial too take note of the goodness of my work. This is a message to take into consideration. Which I would send to savers, above all to guarantee my transparency towards them.”
