“Nobody” is 2021’s brutal action hammer, Bob Odenkirk like you’ve never seen him before. Comedy, blood and a bus scene that you won’t be able to get rid of.
When you think of Bob Odenkirk, the smart lawyer Saul Goodman from “Breaking Bad” or “Better Call Saul” immediately comes to mind. But in 2021 he showed us a completely different side: As Hutch Mansell in “Nobody,” Odenkirk proves that he can not only talk, but also dish it out.
A completely normal guy? Think!
Hutch Mansell is the epitome of an average guy: two kids, a boring job and a marriage that has long since lost its appeal. But when burglars break into his house one night, Hutch’s true self begins to leak out. Surprise: The guy is an ice-cold ex-contract killer.
Action that hits – literally
The plot? Minor matter. This is about merciless action, staged by “Hardcore Henry” director Ilja Naischuller. There is shooting, fighting and slashing – with an intensity that is reminiscent of “John Wick”.

The best scene: An absolute highlight of the film: Hutch alone against five opponents on a bus. Why? Because he can. What follows is bloody choreography in a class of its own. Bones break, blood spurts, and Hutch shows that even a “nobody” can mutate into a deadly machine. Particularly violent: the DIY tracheostomy with a straw. Not for the faint-hearted.
“Nobody” deftly balances humor and brutality
Despite all the violence, “Nobody” also offers a touch of dark humor. Odenkirk deftly balances between a cold-blooded killer and a family man who just wants to get his life under control. The action flick was also celebrated by critics and viewers alike.

Although there is no second part yet, the open ending gives hope for more. The sequel to the action hit has already been released in cinemas: “Nobody 2” is scheduled to open in German cinemas on August 14, 2025. Filming for the sequel should have started in August 2024.

If you like uncompromising action and a dose of humor, you can’t ignore “Nobody”. Bob Odenkirk shines in an unusual role and proves that he is also convincing as an action hero. A must for fans of “John Wick” and everyone who likes the twelve.
