The problem of the representatives of the people not electing the chairman of the 51st National Assembly from the first attempt is rooted in creating a majority. No such majority in this National Assembly is available. The Speaker of the National Assembly will be elected, probably within a few days. The election of the Speaker is the only chance that the National Assembly itself has to work, to create groups and start issuing orders. He said that there are two options: “Borisov could draw the majority today to form a cabinet between GERB-SDS, PP-DB, ITN and BSP to reach a consensus for the chairman of the National Assembly. it is less likely And option two, for the National Assembly to stop at a temporary decision for a chairman, until a majority is formed”.

According to him, it is not right to commit to a forecast for the stability of a coalition that has not yet been born. But he questioned whether there was even another majority in the 51st National Assembly, beyond what was explained today by Borisov. “There is no other majority than this, in principle, from producing the result of the election. This arrangement is only possible, but may not be implemented. An alternative to this arrangement is parliamentary elections in early March, perhaps if we follow constitutional dates. The coalition GERB-SDS, PP-DB, ITN and BSP will be extremely difficult, because of the relationship between GERB and PP-DB. They are the main rival parties. And PP-DB builds its image and policies on the basis of GERB’s rejection. It will not be easy, and since then we will be starting the negotiations for additional support from ITN and BSP.
