NFL: The Cowboys and Jets both suffered corrections on Sunday

Pros of confusion, the Dallas Cowboys suffered another beating by losing 34-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts set an NFL record with a fourth straight season with at least 10 rushing touchdowns for a quarterback, breaking a tie with Cam Newton. He had two today in this fifth victory in a row for the Eagles (7-3), in addition to throwing two touchdown passes to Dallas Goedert and Johnny Wilson.

Perfect at home last year, the defending NFC East champions have now lost all four of their home games thus far and the faces were still long in the stands among the poor fans. What’s more, they trailed by at least 20 points in each of them.

The Cowboys (3-7) were victims of five turnovers, some of which were costly since it deprived them of a touchdown in addition to leading the opponent into the end zone.

Early in the game, quarterback Cooper Rush fumbled the throw deep in his territory and the Eagles recovered the ball. They immediately seized the opportunity on a quarterback sneak from Jalen Hurts, his seventh of the year.

Philly hasn’t been perfect, however. Early in the second quarter, Trevon Diggs intercepted Hurts who was targeting Goedert in the end zone. Diggs then made his fifth interception in his last six games against Philadelphia.

On first down and the goals, the ball was given to Ezekiel Elliott who was also fumbled after contact with Zach Baun, then recovered by Cooper DeJean, so that the Eagles regained the ball at the 20 line.

The Cowboys, however, corrected their mistake on a quarterback sack by Micah Parson who knocked the ball away from Hurts, and Marist Liufau was able to recover it at the goal gate. Dallas settled for a field goal, but that at least allowed them to get within 7-6 at the end of the first half.

There was still enough time for the Eagles to increase their lead to 14-6 before halftime. Hurts narrowly avoided the tackle and connected with Goedert, victim of the interception earlier, for his first touchdown of the season.

Johnny Wilson, for his part, scored his first career major in the third quarter, then Jalen Hurts did it again to outdistance their rivals at 28-6.

The Cowboys were no longer in the game at all.

Young reserve quarterback Trey Lance saw action from the end of the third quarter, having not completed a pass since 2022, with the San Francisco 49ers. It was mainly used for racing and options games.

Dak Prescott may not return to action this season. The quarterback wants a new medical opinion before deciding whether to opt for campaign-ending surgery.

“You have to understand that our quarterback is out,” Parsons said. Things won’t always go the way we want them to. This is one of those years where, like I said, it’s tough, but we have to be there for everyone. »

In his first season with the Eagles, Saquon Barkley had never won in 10 games against the Cowboys before today.

Asked after the meeting if he was going to keep the services of head coach Mike McCarthy until the end of the campaign, owner Jerry Jones was somewhat reassuring.

“I think so,” he said. I don’t think we will make a change of coach during the season. »

The Jets still in turbulence zone

Obviously, the New York Jets’ victory last week was a simple exception to the rule – rather than a harbinger of a new lease of life.

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense had a disastrous game in a 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, suffering a sixth loss in their last seven outings.

Rodgers completed 22 passes for a meager 151 yards and was unable to lead his team to the slightest touchdown. Garrett Wilson caught five balls for 41 yards while Davante Adams’ six receptions only gave him 31 yards.

With this setback, the Jets now have a record of three wins against seven losses, the same as the New England Patriots in their division.

Unlike Rodgers, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray excelled, completing 22 of 24 pass attempts for 266 yards, in addition to throwing a touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison Jr.

Murray scored two rushing touchdowns, while James Conner also reached the end zone. Conner had a strong game with 33 yards rushing and 80 yards passing.

The Cardinals quickly made it clear to the Jets that the game would not be a cakewalk for New York, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-3 lead. Murray and Conner each reached the end zone on short one-yard runs.

Murray then connected with Harrison Jr. for nine yards in the second quarter to increase the lead to 24-6, before adding Arizona’s fourth touchdown in the fourth quarter, this time with a 12-yard run.

Limited to two wins in their first six games, the Cardinals were able to right the ship with four consecutive victories.

This victory allows the Cardinals to remain alone at the top of the NFC West division with a record of 6-4, just ahead of the San Francisco 49ers and their record of 5-4.
