There is a fundamental aspect in the turning point in the investigation into the murder of Angelo Vassallo, the “fisherman mayor” of Pollica who was murdered on 6 September 2010 and whose crime, for 14 very long years, remained shrouded in mystery. In recent days, in fact, the long investigative work of the Salerno Prosecutor’s Office has been completed, strengthened even more after the arrival at the helm of the offices of the Judicial Citadel of the prosecutor Giuseppe Borrelli who, already on the day of his inauguration, highlighted how the judiciary had “a moral obligation” to search for the murderer of the Cilento administrator. The hand that pressed the trigger of a “Tanfoglio baby” nine times is still not there but, now, investigations have led to the leads on the motive and organizers of the deadly ambush. But how did we come to raise the hypothesis of complicity in voluntary homicide (with the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and mafia objectives) against the entrepreneur Giuseppe Cipriano, the justice collaborator Romolo Ridosso and the carabinieri Fabio Cagnazzo and Lazzaro Cioffi? The revelations that arrived many years after the crime of two people unrelated to the events but close to the protagonists were decisive: Antonella Mosca and, above all, Eugenio D’Atri.
