This year, San Antonio Tlayacapan remembered his ancestors and family through his activities

Sofía Medeles.- Remembering its deceased and the history of the town, as well as with colorful decorations, was how San Antonio Tlayacapan celebrated its Day of the Dead this year, in addition to different artistic presentations and various activities that took place in the main square of the town.

The activities began with a screening of a children’s film on November 1st. For the 2nd, as is customary, various religious and traditional activities of San Antonio were carried out, starting very early, with the mañanitas from the delegation to the pantheon, followed by the tour of the tombs with music, mass in the parish, in the pantheon and the rosary at dusk.

Community activities began after the rosary. Old photographs of families from San Antonio Tlayacapan were exhibited, the exhibition of catrinas dressed by students from the Cuauhtémoc primary school, and a presentation by Cosette Desirée Peguero Aguilar performing typical songs.

The lighting of the Paseo de las Almas continued, where candles were lit at the foot of the photographs of deceased members of the delegation. The distribution of sweet bread and hot chocolate continued, as well as the folk dance of Maestra Zaida, set to music by “El Xantolo”, a sweet trio from the Huasteca Potosina. Finally, the night closed with the presentation of recognitions and awards to the participants.

According to data shared by Civil Protection, attendance at the activities in the pantheon on November 1st was dozens of people, while for the 2nd, there was a record of more than a hundred people, without any incident. The office manager, Gustavo Aguayo de la Torre, concluded by commenting that this year “everything went very well.”
