the essentials CSB playmaker Issa Diakhate looks back on the heavy 90-51 defeat conceded by his team this Sunday.
It had been more than two years, during a match in Albi, that we had not seen the Lotois go through a championship match as much as was the case this Sunday evening in Toulouse against at TOAC 2.
We know that the “yellows and blues” always experience difficulties against hopeful teams who are physically and athletically superior knowing that they train every day.
Moreover, during the last three Prenational seasons, the Toulouse team did not really succeed against the Lotois who, in seven meetings, never managed to win in the TOAC room, winning only one time against them, last season at home by 2 small points. This shows the difficulty of the task that awaited the CSB. But this Sunday evening, nothing worked for Bruno Prouillac’s men.
They were dominated in all areas of the game. The “yellows and blues” all sank, little by little, in this meeting, unlike the Toulouse residents who succeeded in everything they tried.
To return to this CSB non-match, we met playmaker Issa Diakhate:
What feelings do you have after this first defeat of the season?
Anger! We took a big beating this Sunday! From the first to the last minute, for the first time this season, we were transparent. Nothing worked and our zone defense was shattered.
We were dominated for forty minutes without being able to react. We lowered our heads. We were unable to rebel and show our true level because we are much better than that!
We will have to learn lessons from this meeting to progress and react?
We are going to go back to training tomorrow and do our individual and collective self-criticism. But, above all, we will have to show, from Saturday in the Ouest Toulousain room (9 p.m.), that it was only a salutary incident.
I hope that all my teammates are upset in their self-esteem by what we experienced this Sunday and that, from Saturday, we will show that our team is better than that!
