Plot of the film
Mitsuhiro tells the relationship between different generations – a favorite theme of the master of Japanese cinema Yasujiro Ozu – through the story of the bond between a father and a daughter who manage a small tofu shop near Hiroshima. In the role of father Takano Tatsuo, creator of the incomparable tofu, there is Tatsuya Fuji, the protagonist actor of Behold the Empire of the Senses by Nagisa Ôshima. Takano Tatsuo is a passionate craftsman and the tofu he prepares is considered the best in his hometown of Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, and all the provinces around. In addition to supplying his tofu to a local supermarket, Takano runs a shop with his daughter Haru (Aso Kumiko) who lives with her father after separating from her husband. Takano and his friends decide that the time has come to find her a new boyfriend and begin to sift through the best bachelors in the area in search of the perfect husband for Haru. But Takano will also have an unexpected meeting, he will meet Fumie, a woman who will turn out to be truly special.
