L’ancien champion heavyweight WBC Deontay Wilder has several fighters in mind for his return, including Francis Ngannou: “Even since I’ve been off, a lot of offers have come in, from a lot of different countries. Same with Francis.” Wilder told TMZ Sport. Despite having undergone two consecutive defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhangthe American remains a very big name in English boxing, capable of producing big fights.
Both men have previously announced that a fight was in the works, but nothing very concrete ever happened. Hypothetical or not, Deontay Wilder nevertheless does not want to exclude Ngannou from his possible fights for the rest of his career : “It’s a hypothesis that I always try to integrate into discussions and that I want to talk about.” If the two opponents meet in English boxing, we can question the interest of the fight, between an experienced boxer and a novice boxer, a problem to which the American responded clearly: “Every fight is competitive. A future still very uncertain for Francis Ngannou

The Cameroonian is not yet on the verge of retiring from sport and has a few fights to do, a boxing and an MMA. Having beaten the PFL champion in its category, it is difficult to know who the American organization can put in front of the “Predator” in the cage. If on a sporting level Jon Jones is the opponent who is on everyone’s mind, this fight is in reality most improbable.
In boxing, Francis Ngannou experienced two defeats, more or less difficult, against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, so it will be difficult to understand what interest he would have in once again taking on an opponent at the top of the discipline, as is Wilder. Instead, the former UFC champion could choose to return to boxing by taking on a less experienced boxer, to make a more balanced fight.
