On TV tonight: “1917” or “The Best Pastry Chef”

Your selection for this Monday, November 11, not to be missed.

“1917”, at 8:20 p.m. on La Une

On April 6, 1917, the First World War raged on the Western Front. The German army withdrew from a sector of the Western Front in northern France. Aerial reconnaissance spotted that the Germans were not retreating but had made a tactical withdrawal to the Hindenburg Line, where they were awaiting the British. Two young British soldiers, lance corporals Will Schofield and Tom Blake, are tasked by General Erinmore with a seemingly impossible mission: with the lines of communication cut, they will have to cross no man’s land alone.

“The best pastry chef”, at 8:30 p.m. on RTL tvi

“The creative test: gourmet-crunchy-terrifying”. Vampires, evil clowns, ghosts and other monsters: the pastry chefs will have to make cake busts of the scariest characters there are! – “The technical test: the bloody cake, with Chiara Serpaggi”. The pastry chefs will have to reproduce a cake that has become legendary on the internet: the “Bloody Cake” from the Taylor Swift music video! It’s up to the pastry chefs to make the purest of hearts from which blood will flow, or rather a delicious red fruit coulis! – “The surprise test: revisiting a great classic in a completely black cake”.

The stars of Dominique Deprêtre

“The paths of glory”, at 8:55 p.m. on Arte – Four stars

de Stanley Kubrick (1957)

The authentic and revolting story of the “corporals of Souain”, shot as an example in March 1915 on the Champagne front, fictionalized in 1935 by the American Humphrey Cobb. Produced by Kirk Douglas himself, the film was shot in Bavaria and was banned in France under de Gaulle, then authorized under Giscard. One of the last great black and white masterpieces.

“Furyo”, at 10:25 p.m. on Arte – Four stars

de Nagisa Oshima (1983)

David Bowie’s greatest role as an actor, whose confrontation with Ryuichi Sakamoto – who also died in 2023 at the age of 71 – has become legendary! A war story extraordinary in its fantastic and obsessive aspect.

“Is there a cop to save the president?” », at 8:00 p.m. on RTL plug – Three stars

de David Zucker (1991)

Between “The Queen” and “Hollywood”, this second title in the saga led by Leslie Nielsen is on average, with its share of visual gags, its regularly absurd humor and nods to “Casablanca”, “Ghost” and “ET”, also featuring the real Zsa Zsa Gabor in her own role.

“Skyfall”, at 9:25 p.m. on France 3 – Three stars

by Sam Mendes (2012)

Oscars for best sound editing and best original song performed by the beautiful Adele: a huge hit in theaters, definitively turning the page on Judi Dench and once again scrapping the legendary Aston Martin DB5 from 1964, at the end of a final sequence as dramatic as yet grotesque.

“X-Men: Apocalypse”, at 8:05 p.m. on RTL club – Two stars

de Bryan Singer (2016)

The saga continues under the aegis of the director of his debut, who has since brilliantly moved on to “Superman Returns” and “Walkyrie”.
