55-year-old Italian reported by the Carabinieri of San Pancrazio station.
In recent days, a 55-year-old man was reported by the Carabinieri of the San Pancrazio Parmense station for having produced a false medical certificate with the intention of obtaining a driving licence. The attempt, which would have gone unnoticed if not for the military’s thorough investigation, was discovered during a routine check.
It all started when the man presented himself to the Local Medical Commission at the Parma Local Health Authority, with the intention of obtaining the renewal of his driving licence. To complete the practice, it was necessary to present a medical certificate certifying the psycho-physical suitability to drive. The certificate provided, however, aroused suspicion among the office employees, who decided to verify its authenticity.
After receiving the report, the Carabinieri launched an investigation which made it possible to ascertain that the certificate represented some gross falsification in many of its parts. The man had in fact presented a counterfeit medical certification, with the intention of passing the health check necessary to obtain a driving licence, despite not having met the required requirements.
Based on the elements collected so far and without prejudice to the principle of innocence until a final sentence, the 55-year-old Italian was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Parma for the crime of “material forgery committed by a private individual”. The investigation also made it possible to ascertain that the man, already known to the Carabinieri for his previous criminal vicissitudes, had already attempted to evade road safety regulations through the same “modus operandi”.
The Carabinieri underline how the authorities’ meticulous control of the requirements for driving suitability is essential to guarantee road safety. Forgery of medical certificates to obtain a driving license is a serious crime, which can put everyone’s safety at risk.
