The Lanternata di San Martino in Bergamo, yoga in Osio Sotto, the meeting with the author at the Tiraboschi library and more. There are various initiatives organized in the Bergamo area on the evening of Monday 11 November.

BERGAMO
Tonight at 5pm Tiraboschi libraryin Bergamo, the author Alberto Prunetti presents the volume “Troncamacchioni”.
“Here you will find the ragged epic of the underprivileged who cannot afford the luxury of inner emotions, the story of the last ones who made history. The protagonists of these pages, if they shine, is for the quartz of their granite teeth. If their skin changes color, it’s because a wound bleeds like a vein of hematite. And when they are close they make sparks, like pyrite when it meets potassium nitrate.” Domenico Marchettini, known as Ricciolo, “a porter inclined to brawling and swearing”. Giuseppe Major, taciturn illiterate miner. And again, Robusto Biancani, communist cobbler with a sensitive and dreamy air, and Albano Innocenti, “fermenter of unrest”. Characters that are rarely encountered in history books, unless lumped together in collective and faceless entities such as “the masses”, “the proletarians”, “the people”. These, their companions, the mothers, the sisters, the companions are the protagonists of the dark story sung in this book. It is the story of men and women in the Upper Maremma at the dawn of fascism: anarchists and bandits, deserters and communists, disheveled types who were not lucky enough to find a straight and level road ahead of them, but were forced to come forward “a troncamacchioni” – “among the holm oaks, the chestnut groves and the fortified ones, with my heart in my throat and my lips split”: perpetually on the run from the established authority, from the fascist thugs, from the informers ready to sell the neighbor for a few pennies . The rebellious spirit of miners and farmers who have nothing to lose but do not give up opposing, denying their consent, comes forward with blows of knife, stick, fury, but also with improvised rhyming verses. And from the hills of Maremma it reaches France, Belgium and Russia.”
Tonight at 5pm the final traveling event of the workshop dedicated to the “Lanternata di San Martino” will be held.
Meeting point at the car park Via Astino 33-35, in Bergamo.
The organizers explain: “November 11th marks the beginning of the Christmas period. The days become shorter and shorter, and the nights longer. It’s up to us to find the light and make it shine. The children will light up the night with the lanterns they make. We thus commemorate Saint Martin who, according to Christian worship, tore off his cloak during a cold night to give it to a beggar.”

Initiative organized by the Savoia Parents Association and the Longuelo Neighborhood Network:
Tonight at 5.30pm Serughetti La Porta Foundationin Bergamo, a meeting entitled “Resistance practices in everyday life” will be held, with Tarcisio Plebani.
The organizers explain: “We need to nourish hope with images, stories, gestures. We need to discover experiences around us that force reality when it seems unable to open up to the future. Not heroic and mythical experiences, but daily practices, shared thoughts, individual and collective choices that diverge from dominant social relationships, choices that resist the temptation to passively adapt to the present and allow us to glimpse broader possibilities.”
PROVINCE
Today through the streets of the town ad Alzano Lombardo the traditional “Festa di San Martino” will be held. The center will be packed with stalls and there will be entertainment for children.
Tonight from 8.45pm to 10.15pm at the Yoga Mate Club Osio Sotto the “Let’s meditate together” initiative will be held. Participants will be led into their own inner world so that they can establish an intimate and profound connection with their soul part.
