Colleagues and friends call him Čmaňa, and almost every television fan knows that this is Pavel Zedníček. He just celebrated his seventieth birthday on November 1st. Above all, hundreds of messages and different opinions appeared on social networks at that time.
They were concerned not only with films (How Poets Don’t Lose Hope, Angel Eyes, Handsome Hubert), but also with theater and dubbing roles. Many people may not be aware that it was Pavel Zedníček who lent his voice to Frank Lambert from the family series, which is still repeated today, Step by Step.
If the mentioned reactions on social networks have something in common, it is gratitude and at the same time the characteristic that Čmaňa is still a normal person. PrahaIN.cz also has to contribute to this, which remembers him, for example, from his involvement in the ABC Theater.
A man who has devoted his whole life to gastronomy turned to our editorial office in this context. “I don’t remember for sure, but it is probably ten years since Mr. Zedníček arrived in Luhačovice,” he said in a very calm voice when we spoke to him on Monday. It is true that the actor was in the spa. But , it was not ten years ago, but in 2017. “Together with their partner, they came to us for a few days to rest and gain strength for the upcoming summer days. For relaxation, they used our activities with spa procedures and a Javanese massage salon,” said this complex.
Good people
On the way, the Zedníčeks stayed at the Vila Antoaneta hotel.
“He seemed very nice and friendly. That’s how a person in the field can tell if you’re going to serve a grumbler, or if you’re going to learn something,” this attendant told PrahaIN.cz. However, what interested him more was not the stories, or the narrative, but the way the workers worked. “I met a lot of people here who are playing for something. They arrive, settle in, slowly it becomes difficult for them to answer anything, no matter how hard you try. Mr. Zedníček, who I want to emphasize, was just the opposite. A charming man, a brave man, who, whenever he came across something good, was the first to greet and bow a little, as people did in the early republics. Since many famous and famous faces go to the spa, we are all taught in some way not to notice. Mr. Zedníček was just opposite, you could not miss him, it was impossible. Polite, helpful, kind. Such a person is not forgotten. I suspect that his partner (Hanka Zedníčková Kousalová) was with him at the time, which was an amazing sight. Vibrant and feminine chic, she reminded me a bit of Sophia Loren. She was carefully dressed and combed. I wanted to wish him a happy birthday this way too. It’s hard for us to meet in the spa anymore, because I don’t work there anymore, but I might run into him at the theater sometimes,” said former waiter Jaroslav.
Marianky was full
As we found out, Pavel Zedníček is very close to the spa. He visits them regularly as part of social conversations. September was the last time he went to the famous Hotel Krakonoš in Mariánské Lázně. The second guest was the actress Sabina Laurinová. And it was full. By the way, since October, a statue of sculptor František Bednář has been standing near this hotel, which looks like Miroslav Horníček in life size.
“Mr. Zedníček arrived with Sabina Laurinová, which was a beautiful revival of the evening. It was really full, 130-150 people, we couldn’t even get more there,” Jiří Richter told our editors. The original post of economist has been in West Bohemia for fifty-three years. The PrahaIN.cz editorial team discussed several other topics with him, which we will cover in a separate article.
Regarding Pavel Zedníček, Jiří Richter spoke only in superlatives. “People were having fun, he was having fun. You know what, I’ve had quite a few debates here. We invited Zdenek Troška, Pepa Vojtek, Josef Klíma and Pepa Dvořák, if I remember. Now we are waiting, for example, for the traveler Jirka Kolbaba (November 15 at 7:30 p.m. right.), but I was very happy with Pavel Zedníček, because it was a good evening. He came to us from Karlovy Vary with his partner. As I already said, Sabina Laurinová also revived it,” said the hotel expert for our editors.
We will have a special interview with Pavel Zedníček on Wednesday, November 13.
