Four people were killed and 18 others wounded in a series of Russian airstrikes on the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia today, where houses were destroyed and a cancer center damaged, according to a new toll from Ukrainian emergency services.
“The toll of the Russian casualties in Zaporizhzhya amounts to four dead, 18 people injured. Rescuers recovered two children and a woman who were injured from the debris,” they said in their Telegram post.
A four-month-old girl and two boys, aged one and 10, are among the injured, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said on the Telegram app.
Two people are in serious condition, he added, after Russia managed five strikes against the city. The oncology center was damaged by the shock wave, emergency services said.
Rescue operations are continuing as more people may be trapped under the debris, officials said.
Damaged buildings, houses with broken facades and broken windows can be seen in images from the area posted by Fedorov.
In addition, traces of blood and broken glass were visible on the steps next to the hospital.
“They are happy to kill people,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote to X for his part.
