On September 1, 2025, a new program to support students of technical specialties will start in Udmurtia – a personal scholarship for Mikhail Kalashnikov. Its establishment was announced by the Head of the Republic, Alexander Brechalov, at a solemn meeting dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of the famous designer.

The scholarship will be awarded annually to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in engineering and scientific activities. The selection of candidates will take place based on the results of a competition organized by the academic councils of educational institutions of the republic. Students of secondary vocational educational institutions, bachelor’s, specialty, as well as master’s and postgraduate students will be able to apply for support.

There are 10 scholarships in the amount of 5,000 rubles for students of secondary educational institutions. For undergraduate and specialist students, 15 scholarships of 15,000 rubles each will be allocated, and for masters and graduate students – 5 scholarships of 25,000 rubles each.

Alexander Brechalov emphasized that Mikhail Kalashnikov, who lived and worked in Udmurtia for more than 60 years, always noted the importance of education and engineering knowledge. The new scholarship, according to the Head of the region, is designed to inspire young people to develop technical skills and innovative thinking in order to continue the work of the great designer and help the republic raise a new generation of engineers.
