This afternoon Feyenoord played the lunch match in the Premier League with Zépiqueno Redmond in the striker. The Rotterdam team took on low-flying Almere City in the Yanmar Stadium.
After Brian Priske seemed to have it on this stage, Feyenoord suffered a small setback. Last week they lost 2-0 to Ajax in their own Kuip, after which Feyenoord managed to narrowly beat AZ at the weekend and lost to RB Salzburg (1-3) in the Champions League. Now the Rotterdammers hoped to achieve another victory.
Of course, Almere City-Feyenoord could be followed live on Radio Rijnmond this afternoon. The broadcast started at 12:00 and was presented by Frank Stout. Dennis Kranenburg and Dennis van Eersel were in Almere to provide commentary for the match.
Listen to Rijnmond Sport below:

This is what Feyenoord’s last two goals sounded like
Feyenoord won 1-4 when visiting relegation candidate Almere City with goals from Hwang, Zerrouki, Beelen and Hadj-Moussa.
84′ Gonzalez can still participate for a while
Just before the end, Priske makes one more change. He takes out Gijs Smal and brings in Facundo González.
After a shot by Zechiël, Smal gets the ball at his feet. He shoots the ball wide from close range. It wouldn’t have been a goal anyway, because the linesman raised the flag.
Anis Hadj-Moussa opens his bag of tricks and slips past two Almere City defenders, after which he shoots the ball into the far corner: 1-4.
Goalscorer Thomas Beelen gets a header from a corner. He headed the ball over Bakker’s goal.
After a good attack by Feyenoord, left back Gijs Smal had an opportunity to shoot the ball from the edge of the sixteen-meter area. He misses.
Thomas Beelen passes Almere City goalkeeper Nordin Bakker by shooting the ball at goal: 1-3.
69′ No goal on debut
Zépiqueno Redmond failed to score a goal on his debut. After just under seventy minutes the youth player is substituted. Luka Ivanusec is his replacement.
60′ Feyenoord is going to change
After playing for an hour, Brian Priske decides to make a triple substitution. Timber, Hwang and Trauner are replaced by Zechiël, Nadje and Beelen.
49′ Shot from Almere City
After a nice attack, Almere City midfielder Thom Haye had a shot opportunity. He shot the ball into the hands of Wellenreuther.
Feyenoord will start the second half with the same eleven. Can the Rotterdammers expand their lead?
The Rotterdam team goes to rest with a small lead thanks to goals from Hwang and Zerrouki. Can Feyenoord increase its lead in the second half?
44′ Timber fires a shot
Just before half time, the Rotterdam team gets another chance. Hwang gets stuck on the edge of the penalty area and puts the ball back to Quinten Timber. The Feyenoord captain then fires a shot, which ends up next to the goal.
After Hadj-Moussa passes the ball to Hwang on the right side with the outside of his foot, the South Korean can pass the ball, after which Paixao shoots the ball wide.
24′ Chance for the home team
After the busy opening phase, not much happened in the Yanmar Stadium, until Almere City player Junior Kadile shot the ball over from the second line.
This is how the 1-2 sounded on Radio Rijnmond
Very soon Feyenoord scores again. Paixao takes the corner that is extended by David Hancko. Ramiz Zerrouki can head the ball in on the goal line.
When Gernot Trauner is fumbling at the back, Almere City striker Kornelius Hansen can easily work the ball home. Feyenoord has to look for the lead again.
“Hwang with a candy dip!”
This is what In-Beom Hwang’s 0-1 sounded on Radio Rijnmond.
It quickly became a hit for Feyenoord. Igor Paixao cuts inside and passes the ball, after which In-Beom Hwang comes in front of his man and heads the ball in low.
Referee Marc Nagtegaal has sounded the starting signal in the Yanmar Stadium. Can Feyenoord take revenge from the defeat against Rb Salzburg?
‘He is a boy with big dreams’
At ESPN, Brian Priske said about youth striker Zepiqueno Redmond: ‘He is a young boy with big dreams, a good boy and he works hard. He can score goals, he also does that at Jong Feyenoord. He has been training with us for a few weeks and the boys have a good relationship with him.’
Hedwiges Maduro’s eleven is also known. Almere City plays with three central defenders.
Brian Priske starts with youth player Zepiqueno Redmond in the striker, due to the absence of Santiagio Gimenez, Ayase Ueda and Julian Carranza. Backs Gijs Smal and Givairo Read can also start instead of Hugo Bueno and Bart Nieuwkoop. In addition, Ibrahim Osman (who is missing) and Luka Ivanusec are replaced by Anis Hadj-Moussa and Ramiz Zerrouki.
