Trump will not appoint Pompeo and Haley to his administration

US President – Donald Trump I don’t intend to invite in his future administration, two prominent representatives of the Republican Party who held senior positions in the Trump administration during his first term – Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo. Trump wrote about this on the social network Truth. The names of Haley and Pompeo were mentioned in several media publications dedicated to the possible composition of the administration in the future.

“I will not invite former Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump Administration in the future,” the president-elect wrote. At the same time, he noted that he was happy to work with them and thanked them for their “service to the country”.

Nikki Haley was the US representative to the UN during Trump’s first term, and Pompeo was the director of the CIA and then secretary of state. Haley was Trump’s main rival in the fight for the Republican presidential nomination in the current election and during the primaries she strongly criticized him, including foreign policy issues, especially , accusing him of being too soft on Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the primaries, however, she lost to Trump in almost every state and supported his candidacy before the November elections.

Pompeo spoke loyally about Trump, but he also made it clear that he was in favor of a tougher US policy towards Russia, and Trump himself said that he would like to “get along” with Putin. The press wrote that Trump could consider Pompeo for the position of Secretary of Defense. At the same time, it does not follow from Trump’s statement that political differences were the reason he refused to seek the services of former members of his administration.

So far, only one key position for the future cabinet is known – Trump’s campaign manager Susan Wiles will head the White House staff. Trump himself has spoken publicly about the possibility of appointing billionaires who played an important role in his campaign to positions in the administration. Elon Musk and Democrat Robert Kennedy Jr.

Other names are also being discussed in the media, while it is noted that Trump will try to give key positions not only to Republicans or professional officials, but to like-minded people. Many positions must be approved by the Senate, in which, however, the Republicans will have a majority after the election results, which will simplify the approval of the nominees proposed by Trump.

• In the last few days, several publications have appeared in the media about what Trump’s proposals could be regarding ways to end the war in Ukraine. The president-elect himself, however, has not spoken definitively about them. In the transition office created by Trump to prepare for his transition to the presidency, said that his adviser during the election campaign, Brian Lanza, did not speak when he said that Ukraine should give up Crimea to achieve peace, on behalf of Trump.
