With their victory against Dallas, the Winnipeg Jets have a record start to the NHL season

The Winnipeg Jets are off to the best start ever to the NHL regular season. At home, the Canadians won against the Dallas Stars (4-1) with goals from Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, Vladislav Namestnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers, and thanks to 32 saves from their goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, voted best last season “goalie” of the North American pro league.

The Jets lead the NHL with 14 wins in 15 games played. Only the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to beat them (6-4) on October 28. The previous best start belonged to the Ottawa Senators with 13 wins in 14 matches during the 2007-2008 season.

Saturday evening was full of sensations. Thus the Edmonton Oilers, finalists last season, beat the Vancouver Canucks on the road (7-3). In the final third, while leading 3-2, the Oilers unleashed themselves by scoring four goals in four minutes. The Colorado Avalanche won against the Carolina Hurricanes (6-4) having scored five goals in one and the same period – the second.

Ovechkin (Washington) scores goals

Alex Ovechkin, who went in search of the record for goals scored in the NHL regular season this season (894), never stops scoring (10 in his last 14 matches). On Saturday, he scored twice and Washington crushed St Louis (8-1), the team of Alexandre Texier, the only Frenchman to play in the NHL. Ovechkin now has 863 goals in his career in the North American pro league.

Trailing 1-3 five minutes from the end of the match, New Jersey finally snatched overtime against the New York Islanders, before winning (4-3). Finally, the Los Angeles Kings won a collective victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets (5-2), since 11 of their players scored at least one point.
