Amsterdam: Violent attack on Israelis with injuries – Netanyahu sends two planes –

Violent incidents against Israeli citizens occurred overnight in Amsterdam after the end of the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv game. Netanyahu sends two planes to pick them up.

According to Dutch media reports, groups of Muslims had set up an ambush and attacked Maccabi fans outside the stadium and according to information there are at least 10 injured.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been briefed on the details of the violent incident targeting Israeli civilians, his office announced Friday.

He ordered two aircraft to be dispatched immediately to help citizens return to the country, he added in a statement.

Earlier, Maccabi fans tore down Palestinian flags hanging from house windows. Allegedly these actions, according to the Dutch media, are the reason for the incidents that broke out after the football match.

“On Rockin Street, a Palestinian flag was pulled from a facade by – currently unknown – individuals,” police said in a statement.

An Amsterdam police spokesman said 57 suspects were arrested during the raids. However, he did not confirm whether those arrested were fans of any team. Those arrested are charged with the offenses of public order violation and possession of fireworks.
