Uninjured after a bad accident – Lüneburg Aktuell

Fire department spokesman Carsten Schmidt reports:

Car against tree – eCall triggered

Early on Sunday morning, an eCall was received at the Bosch emergency call center in Magdeburg:
A BMW M5 automatically reported an accident, the voice connection to the driver was established and then interrupted during the conversation.
The Barskamp and Bleckede fire departments were then alerted at 4:30 a.m. to the coordinates automatically transmitted by the BMW.
There was a field of rubble at the scene: the BMW M5 had collided with several trees and stopped across the street. Body and plastic parts were scattered widely.
The 23-year-old driver was standing in front of his vehicle and was obviously in a state of shock – but he was largely uninjured. The Bleckede fire department was then able to cancel the operation.

While the fire brigade located and disconnected the vehicle battery using the electronic rescue card, the rescue service took care of the driver:
Due to the accident, he was taken to the hospital to rule out further injuries.
The fire brigade’s operation was over after an hour.

A conclusion on the 100th deployment of the Bleckede fire brigade this year:
The eCall system worked well. Even if the driver was not trapped, help had to be provided promptly. That worked!
The patient’s apparently only slightly injured condition can be attributed to many guardian angels and a very stable vehicle. This accident could have ended differently – so the fire service was limited to securing the accident site, disconnecting the battery and cleaning the street.
