/ world today news/ “We call on Minister Lukarski to reconsider the decision on the sale of NITI-Kazanlak, because the price is extremely low and privatization of the enterprise is not required. The ball is in your hands.”
This was stated to the journalists in the National Assembly by the People’s Representative from the PG of the BSP LEFT BULGARIA and Deputy Chairman of the BSP Dragomir Stoynev. In his words, the sale of NITI-Kazanlak is an example of how the state does not protect its interest in the strategic military-industrial complex. He explained that a privatization price of BGN 3.6 million has been announced, which may be lower, as compensatory records will also be used. However, Stoynev emphasized that according to the company’s latest financial report, it owns assets worth BGN 4 million. He explained that NITI-Kazanlak is a strategic enterprise that has licenses for the import and export of special defense products, a certificate for the transfer of defense related products. “It is this enterprise and these licenses that will be placed in the hands of private investors. When it comes to privatization, the state must be careful at what price it sells its interests”, Stoinev was categorical.
Profitable businesses should be developed, not sold
Dragomir Stoynev recalled that during the management of the BSP, the strategic enterprise VMZ – Sopot increased its sales three times and in just one year turned positive. “NITI-Kazanlak has been a profitable enterprise for 3 years. Such enterprises must be developed”, said the deputy chairman of the BSP. He also emphasized that the people who helped in this by managing the enterprise – Eng. Zahari Daskalov, Eng. Hristo Hristakiev, who are specialists in mechanical engineering in the defense industry, were replaced by Iliyan Lekov – regional governor of Sofia region during the official government and Kuncho Papazov – president of the “Rozova Dolina” football club – Kazanlak. “If these people were put in order to worsen the condition of NITI – Kazanlak, so that it would be privatized, I assure you that we are categorically against it. Change the current management!”, Stoynev addressed the rulers. In his words, it is also impressive that a deputy from GERB also opposed privatization. “We are selling a national interest in an extremely important, strategic sector – defense. The state can also be a market player and profit from these enterprises”, he commented.
Stoynev asked where is the voice of the unions and what is their opinion, are there any talks with them. “The opposition will not support this privatization. When a business is operating and growing revenue in this key sector, there is no reason why it should be sold,” he said.
