Wexford school raises over €700 for Children’s Health Ireland

Headline: Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy Student Council Raises €700 for Kids Charity

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and creativity, students at Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy recently transformed their school into a vibrant hub of festive costumes, raising over €700 for Children’s Health Ireland (CHI). Embracing the Halloween spirit, students donned an array of costumes, including beloved figures like minions and characters from Super Mario, while some took advantage of cozy pyjamas to participate in the Dress Up Day event.

A Day of Fun and Fundraising

On October 20, 2023, the Student Council of Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy organized a Dress Up Day, encouraging students to showcase their costumes to raise much-needed funds for CHI, an organization dedicated to providing health services for children throughout Ireland. With four children’s hospitals in the Dublin area, CHI offers crucial medical services and operates national paediatric programs designed to support young patients and their families.

"The funds raised go towards buying vital equipment, treatments, and services, finding cures, and, most importantly, helping kids be kids through Play Therapy," explained Elaine McGinnity from the school’s Guidance Department. "This includes providing entertainers and equipping Playrooms in each of the hospitals.”

Community Involvement and Support

Promoting the event involved a strong focus on social media and in-school announcements, ensuring that participation extended beyond just students. The result? A colorful morning filled with laughter and joy, as costumed students brought the magic of Halloween to life. Teachers, too, joined the revelry, proving that fundraising can be a community-wide affair.

“It was fantastic to see everyone come together for such a noble cause,” said one teacher who donned a ghost costume. “Events like these not only engage students but also foster a sense of solidarity within our community.”

The Impact of Fundraising on Children’s Health Ireland

Children’s Health Ireland plays a pivotal role in ensuring that young patients receive the support they deserve. The raised funds will assist in acquiring essential medical equipment and extending care services that help make hospital stays more comfortable for children. Furthermore, increased funding allows CHI to enhance its therapeutic programs, aiding in the emotional healing process critical for young patients.

The decision to support CHI came from the Student Council’s awareness of how significant health challenges can prevent some children from enjoying the joys of Halloween. By dressing up and having fun, the students aimed to give back and spread joy to those who may not have the opportunity due to illness.

A Call for Continued Support

As the students and staff of Coláiste Bríde Enniscorthy reflect on their successful Dress Up Day, they express gratitude to all who participated and those who contributed, even if they weren’t in costume. The overwhelming response has inspired the Student Council to consider future events aimed at raising awareness and funds for children in need.

With voices echoing a collective message, the community’s support can significantly impact the lives of countless children.
