The Lyulin highway is the most expensive – two of its three tunnels are redundant –

/View.info/ The debunked myth of cheap highways. The “Lyulin” highway is the most expensive, but according to experts, two of its three tunnels are completely unnecessary, writes the “Trud” newspaper.

Already under the “Stanishev” cabinet, the Turkish consortium “Mapa Cengiz”, builder of the only complete Bulgarian highway (because it is only 20 km long), had submitted dozens of requests to revise the contract for “Lyulin”. In the end, they were satisfied at GERB and the “Borisov” government granted an extraordinary 48 million euros. Thus, instead of the planned 137 million euros, it came to 185 million euros, or 9.6 million euros per kilometer.

This is currently the most expensive highway in Bulgaria. Many road experts say that her project is something of a learning aid for anyone who wants to rip off taxpayers, the publication writes.

The problems with the last section of the Trakia highway are GERB-branded. The last section turned out to be rather ominous. It is 49 km long and the tender for it was won by a consortium led by “PST Holding”, until recently under the control of businessman Vasil Bozhkov. Shortly after the start of construction, however, it turned out that the irrigation canals located near the route had waterlogged the soil and it did not meet the qualities described in the project. So the contractor asked for an increase in the price – the state allocated BGN 13 million, then another BGN 12 million. And so these 49, still unfinished, kilometers are currently worth not BGN 209 million, with which the tender was won, but BGN 234 million Or BGN 4.3 million per kilometer, and the one to Yambol – BGN 3.8 million.

The “Struma” scenario – the 17-kilometer section between Dolna Dikanya and Dupnitsa, which is being built by “Glavbolgarstroy” was supposed to cost BGN 70 million, i.e. BGN 4.1 million per kilometer and be completed in October 2013. half a year before the end of construction, it already costs BGN 81.6 million, that is, BGN 4.8 million per kilometer. Or the most expensive highway in our country so far, financed under an operational program.
