With the new brand “BaWü zu Tisch”, Minister Peter Hauk is focusing on regional and sustainable products. The initiative is intended to make Baden-Württemberg a model region for conscious nutrition.
With the new umbrella brand “BaWü zu Tisch”, Food Minister Peter Hauk (CDU) wants to increase awareness of regional food. The brand should highlight regional products and the diversity of Baden-Württemberg cuisine. Citizens should be motivated to consume consciously and sustainably.
“BaWü to Table” is part of the country’s nutrition strategy and should help to make the numerous projects and initiatives for a healthy and sustainable diet more visible, explained the minister. The umbrella brand relies on nine “nutrition ambassadors” who act as the faces of the nutrition strategy and role models for conscious consumption. “Their commitment and motivation are the driving force behind the change towards a more sustainable diet that preserves tradition and at the same time uses innovations,” it says. Many citizens in Baden-Württemberg are already actively working towards a sustainable diet – in households, schools and commercial kitchens.
A focus of the strategy is also on communal catering, for example in daycare centers, schools and canteens. “In our canteens we show every day how sustainable nutrition works on a large scale,” says Hauk. The umbrella brand “BaWü zu Tisch” has the motto “The whole country at the table – good nutrition for Baden-Württemberg” and is intended to establish the state as a role model for sustainable enjoyment.
