For the first of her three farewell concerts, Sylvie Vartan rocked the Dôme de Paris with a 2.5 hour show where she revisited 30 notable titles from her career. As soon as he entered the stage, the icon ready to retire from the stage immersed his audience in nostalgia, with love songs, touching tributes and dance performances. An evening which was special and which the “Parisian” is debriefing this Saturday.

Friday November 8, 2024, Sylvie Vartan gave the first of his three farewell concerts at the Dôme de Paris, former Palais des Sports. At 80 years old, the icon of the French scene is preparing to leave the stage for good, with a memorable show. To thunderous applause, the artist launched into a 2.5-hour singing tour, surrounded by eleven musicians and nine dancers: an American show style that she had not performed for more than two decades as indicated by Parisian present last night and who offers a debrief of the evening. Her daughter, Darina, who she had with producer Tony Scotti, was there to support her. If the energy was there, the first part unfortunately turned out to be quite uneven, with a few hiccups.
From her appearance, Sylvie Vartan set the tone with her energetic cover of Give me your lovebefore continuing on Locomotionunder the encouragement of a won over audience. However, she had some problems with her voice, which was still not very confident, and was forced to shorten a piece. Our colleagues from Parisiancame to question themselves. “Is she hearing? Is she having a technical problem?”they write in the latest issue. “We are obliged to ask ourselves the question on several songs where she has difficulty climbing into the high notes.“
“This concert will hold a special place in my life,” she confided on stage with emotion, before plunging her audience into a series of “six moments that changed [sa] vie”. To honor her career and the people who marked her journey, she presented archive images. This is how the public was able to enjoy seeing images of Johnny Hallyday, her former husband and scene partner. Sylvie Vartan performed That I love you, with photos of the couple as a backdrop, rekindling their memories of the 1960s. A poignant tribute.
Étienne Daho, a distinguished surprise guest!
After a first part which left a rather mixed impression (surely time to rehearse!), the singer was able to give new impetus to the evening with a tribute to the rock repertoire, covering Beatles classics, such as Twist and Shout. “It’s actually tiring to dance!”slipped David Hallyday’s mother, joking about his 80th birthday. The emotion then rose a notch when a surprise guest was announced. Sylvie Vartan then welcomed Étienne Daho, whom she presented as “a friend, a little brother”for a duet in tribute to their mutual friend Françoise Hardy, who died last June at the age of 80.
Together they performed Friendshipa bubble of sincere emotion which greatly touched the public. If this performance offered a moment of grace, it also revived the general atmosphere of the show after the sometimes uncertain start. After a thirty-five minute intermission, the second part of the concert fortunately offered a more dynamic and danceable face. Sylvie Vartan wanted to return to her role as showgirl. A moment that was ultimately appreciated by as many people as possible.
