The unified national registration of the Reform Bloc for the local elections is questionable. This became clear from the words of the Minister of Health and Deputy Head of the DSB Petar Moskov to “Standard”. A few days ago, DBG called on its partners to participate as a single entity, as was the case in the parliamentary and European vote. “If we find a critical number of regional and municipal centers where we can appear together, then we will do it. Otherwise, RB will appear as a single entity where agreements have been reached, and in other places as separate parties,” explained Moskov.
The reason for this decision is that local elections have other specifics. “The fact that there is an understanding at the level of the presidents does not mean that the Bloc parties can work together in all places in the country,” explained Moskov. The final decision on how the Bloc will appear in the elections depends on the results of a special group under the leadership of Nayden Zelenogorski, which tours municipal and regional centers and investigates things. “In any case, if there are strongholds of the BSP and DPS, where neither GERB, nor the Bloc, nor the PF can cope individually, then already in the first round there should be political agreement for a joint appearance,” Moskov said.
Such places are Kardzhali and Razgrad. According to him, in similar places the coalition partners should unite around a certain figure already in the first round. “Talks are already underway with GERB, so far we have absolute clarity that if a GERB or Bloc candidate goes to the second round, they will be supported by the coalition,” Moskov added. The goal of the reformers for the local elections is victory in 40-50 smaller municipalities, as well as in 5-7 large regional cities. However, the mayoral candidates of the reformers have not yet been determined everywhere. For Sofia, it is very possible to raise the candidacy of Vili Lilkov. “He is a wonderful professional, with serious experience and respect, I think he is a good choice for mayor of the capital,” Moskov was categorical. He himself once again denied that he would apply for this post.
