The day after the women’s Masters final, it’s the boys’ turn to wrap up their season from Sunday.
The formula: A great classic
The Masters course, like the girls’, is now well established: two groups of four players, one named Ilie Nastase and the other John Newcombe (the two Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, for the doubles ), and the first one. two of each group will meet for the semi-finals on Saturday before the final on Sunday, in Turin for the third year in a row. All games will be broadcast on Eurosport with a regular daily program: alternation each day between the two groups from Sunday to Friday; singles at 2:30pm and 8:30pm, doubles at 11:30am and 6pm. Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz will open the ball on Sunday afternoon.
Options: An equation with several unknowns
Djokovic withdrew at the last minuteall spots froze even before the last competition week (and the Metz competition which was therefore no longer useful in this race for qualification). Jannik Sinner’s field seems to be a bit cheaper, as Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev are together in the same group – with Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev. But the big question mark for the Italian, who pulled out of Bercy, is his form, he will still have to compete against Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz and Alex De Minaur. Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas are the two who replaced them, in that order.
History: Master Djokovic in great absence
It is inevitable that the shadow of Novak Djokovic will pass over Turin, who he became last year the same won seven times in the competition, in the final against Jannik Sinner (6-3, 6-3). Before that, he shared the record with Roger Federer and his six crowns. As for the 2024 field, only Alexander Zverev is left to caste the previous winners, he who won twice in 2018 and 2021. No Frenchman appears on the list, only Sébastien Grosjean and Jo -Wilfried Tsonga who reached the final (in 2001 and 2011). In doubles – without French this year – Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert are double winners (2019 and 2021), Michaël Llodra and Fabrice Santoro have won once (2005).
