A 5-year-old boy received treatment including 100 stitches on his face after being attacked by a vicious dog.
According to a report from The Sun on the 3rd, a terrible dog bite incident occurred in Scotland. A 5-year-old boy who was bitten by a vicious dog was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery that required 100 stitches on his face for over an hour.
The boy’s grandmother said, “I thought I was losing my grandson,” and “the dog’s teeth pierced my grandson’s body.” He added that the boy who had the surgery “didn’t want to look at himself in the mirror.” The male guardian of the vicious dog that attacked the boy has been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The dog was slaughtered.
The UK has enacted the ‘Dangerous Dogs Act’ since 1991, which contains restrictions on breeding and management guidelines for vicious dogs. In order to raise a dog designated as a vicious dog, you must obtain permission from the court, sign up for personal injury insurance, have neutered, and have a microchip inserted. According to this law, if a vicious dog bites a person and the person dies, the owner can be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison.
Meanwhile, in Korea, as the amendment to the Animal Protection Act comes into effect from February 12, 2021, if you raise a vicious dog, you are required to sign up for liability insurance to compensate for damage to the life, body, or property of others that may occur as a result.
The target fierce dogs are five breeds and their hybrids, including Tosa Inu, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Rottweiler.
