Inter Miami hosts Atlanta United in Game Three of Round One of the Eastern Conference MLS Cup Playoffs Series at Chase Stadium.
The Herons are coming off a 2-1 loss in Game Two away from home as Atlanta’s Xande Silva hits a stoppage time winner to send the series back to Miami. South Florida was unable to clinch a series against its southern rivals but can still advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a win on Saturday night.
Miami boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino is likely to be without veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets who is still recovering from illness. Fellow midfielder Yannick Bright is also a doubt for the match after picking up an injury in the first half of Game Two in Atlantic.
This is how Miami could go against Atlanta in the decisive game three.
Inter Miami vs Atlanta United prediction table (4-3-3)
GK: Drake Callender-Callender didn’t have the best of performances last time out and will look to shake it off for the important game three.
RB: Marcelo Weigandt– The offensive game bounced back from Game Two largely under the radar and will look to get more wins at home in the final game of the series.
CB: Tomás Avilés– The young defender is trying to limit Atlanta’s strike partnership to scoring opportunities with Martínez.
CB: David Martínez– Martinez struggled to put Miami up in Atlanta with a quick finish to an open goal in the previous game but will be hoping his fellow attackers can get the job done in Game Three.
LB: Jordi Alba– The veteran defender keeps his place on the left side of the defence, trying to send crosses and cut passes to his teammates.
CM: Benjamin Cremaschi– Cremaschi’s energy and pressure are essential against an Atlanta side that can move quickly against attacks.
CM: Federico Redondo– With Busquets out with illness, Redondo takes the general midfield position in front of the back line.
CM: Julian Gressel– Gressel could match his first minutes of postseason action with Bright unlikely to appear. His unique delivery from wide areas could be important for Miami.
RW: Lionel Messi– The 37-year-old was not as effective as we saw him in the last third of the last game as Brad Guzan kept him off the scoreboard again. Expect Messi to see a notch or two to lead Miami to victory.
ST: Luis Suárez– The former Grêmio forward is hoping to find the back of the net after coming up empty in Game Two. Miami needs to be on its game if it’s going to advance to the next round.
LW: Diego Gómez– Martino looks to rely on Gómez’s relentless pressure to help Miami defend from the front and force Atlanta into its own half.
