American actor Tony Todd, known for his role in Candyman, but also seen in Platoon and Final Destination, has died at the age of 69.

Actress Virginia Madsen, his co-star in the film released in 1992, paid tribute to him on Instagram. “The great actor Tony Todd has left us and is now an angel. Just like he was in life,” she wrote.
Horrific franchise
Known worldwide for this role, which he reprized in 1995, 1999 and 2021 in the Candyman sequels, Tony Todd also distinguished himself in Platoon, by Oliver Stone in 1986, in the role of Sergeant Warren, addicted to ‘heroin.
His tall stature – 1.95m – his voice and his charisma gave him a prominent place in many horror films.
We saw him in four of the five parts of the horror franchise, Final Destination, in 2000, 2003, 2006, and 2011. He is thus one of the rare recurring actors in a very deadly franchise for its characters. He also starred in the remake of George Romero’s horror classic Night of the Living Dead in 1990.
Film actor, Tony Todd was also a familiar face on the small screen. He has indeed appeared in countless series and television films over the five decades of his career. From 21 Jump Street in the 1980s to Riverdale in 2017, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, New York – Judicial Police, X-Files, Arabesque, Beverly Hills, Xena the Warrior, Boston Public or Smallville.
He also provided the voice of Spectror in the animated series Masters of the Universe. One of Tony Todd’s last on-screen appearances was in the science fiction film The Bunker, released this year.
