The Swiss duo in the NBA leaves the floor as losers. Clint Capela lost to the Detroit Pistons with the Atlanta Hawks, Kyshawn George lost to the Memphis Grizzlies with the Washington Wizards.
Despite a comeback in Detroit, the Hawks lost out 121:122. In the first half, Capela’s team was temporarily behind by 24 points. In that phase there was little to suggest the dramatic final phase in which Cade Cunningham made the decision eight and a half seconds before the end of the game. The guard achieved a triple-double for the third time in a row with 22 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.
Four seconds earlier, Trae Young, the game’s top scorer with 35 points, had given the Hawks the lead for the first time in the game. Capela had 7 points and 12 rebounds in his personal record. After 10 games like the Pistons, the Hawks are now at the bottom of the league in the last two regular seasons, with 4 wins and 6 defeats.
The game in Memphis was a much clearer affair. The weakened Wizards, who were missing forward Kyle Kuzma again due to injury, had no chance at 104:128 despite a convincing performance from George.
The Valais rookie scored 17 points, making him the team’s most successful scorer, his second best score in the NBA to date. Four days earlier, he scored 20 points in the 112:125 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors suffered their third loss in a row. On the Grizzlies side, Jaren Jackson was outstanding with 39 points.
