Ryanair, Italy‘s number 1 airline, launched the W24 service to Genoa today (8 November) and celebrated 25 years of operation at the airport. Ryanair’s journey with Genoa began in 1999: the company’s first flight connected Genoa with London-Stansted and, since then, Ryanair has grown in Genoa, increasing air traffic and tourism, transporting 5 million passengers.
This winter Ryanair will operate 44 weekly flights (+29% compared to W23) to/from Genoa on 8 routes – Bari, Cagliari, Brussels Charleroi, Catania, Naples, Palermo, London Stansted and Lamezia Terme – 4 of which, including London Stansted and Catania, will see an increase in frequencies – offering customers unbeatable choice at the lowest fares for their winter getaways.
Ryanair continues to invest and grow traffic and tourism in Italy, offering lower fares than any other airline. To continue to fuel this massive growth in Italian tourism, Ryanair is asking the government and the regions to eliminate the municipal surcharge in all Italian airports – as the regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Calabria have already done – thus allowing Ryanair and other airlines to ensure rapid growth in tourism and employment throughout the year.
To celebrate 25 years of activity and the winter 2024 operation in Genoa, Ryanair has launched a promotion with fares starting from just €21.99, available only on ryanair.com.
Fabrizio Francioni, Head of Communications Italy at Ryanair, said:
“As Italy’s number 1 airline, Ryanair is delighted to celebrate 25 years of operation in Genoa. This important milestone highlights Ryanair’s continued growth and commitment to Genoa, where the company has established operations since 1999, bringing growth, investment and jobs to the region.
This winter, Ryanair will follow a solid operation at Genoa Airport which includes 44 weekly flights on 8 routes – Bari, Cagliari, Brussels Charleroi, Catania, Naples, Palermo, London Stansted, Lamezia Terme – 4 of which will see an increase in frequencies, offering customers unbeatable choice at the lowest rates when booking their winter getaways.”
Enrico Musso, President of Genoa Airport, declared:
“We are pleased to celebrate this important milestone with Ryanair. The Irish carrier confirms itself as a fundamental partner in the traffic development strategy of Genoa Airport. After 25 years from the start of operations at the Genoa airport, Ryanair is today the leading company in Genoa both in terms of number of routes and passengers. Ryanair connections allow Ligurians to fly at extremely competitive rates, but also allow tens of thousands of Italian and foreign tourists to visit our region. We are grateful to Ryanair for the investment in our territory, which will have ever greater benefits on connectivity and the local economy”.
