Scammers cheated a senior citizen out of her money by pretending to be a police officer. The 86-year-old suffered minor injuries when the envelope was handed over at the front door.
Beusingsen – Fake police officers defrauded a senior citizen in Bad Sassendorf-Beusingsen of a five-figure amount of money. This is reported by the Soest district police.
The fraudsters called the 86-year-old, who lives on the way to school, on her landline phone at around 1:05 p.m. on Thursday, November 7th. According to police information, a caller initially introduced himself as Marc Bentin and pretended to be a police officer. In between, a second man took over the phone call. He introduced himself to the senior citizen as a fake police officer named Köhler.
Piece of paper with name and bank from Romanian burglar gang
The two fraudsters informed the elderly woman that a Romanian gang of burglars had been arrested and that a piece of paper with her name and banking institution was found on them. Under massive pressure, they asked the senior citizen to withdraw a five-figure amount of money from her bank and to wait for someone to pick it up at her home address on the way to school. The 86-year-old complied with this request.
At around 4:45 p.m., the senior citizen opened the door at her home address when she saw a man coming towards her. The stranger pushed the door open, pushed the 86-year-old to the ground and tore the envelope with the money out of her hands. He slightly injured her and fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as follows:
- About 35 years old
- About 1.65 Meter groß
- Slim stature
- Dark blonde hair, a little over ear length
- Dark jacket
- Light pants
Witnesses who can provide information about the person and/or suspicious vehicles are asked to contact the police on 02921-91000.
