The columnist Alba Ventura pointed out, this Thursday, November 7 on TF1, the absenteeism of agents in the capital, comparing data which cannot be put on the same level.

In her column on TF1 this Thursday, November 7, columnist Alba Ventura returned to absenteeism for health reasons in the public service. And more particularly within the workforce of Paris town hall. She compares thus: “For the private sector there is an average of 11.6 days of absence per year. When you move to the civil service in general, you go to 14.5 days of absence on average per year. And now we get into the details of the public service. In the territorial civil service, this is where absenteeism is highest […] there we reach 17.1 days of absence. And in Paris, drum roll… 39.6 days of absence! It’s been almost two months!”

Data concerning Paris are taken from the unique social relationship of the city. We can read that in 2023, the number of working days of absence stands at 1,435,760 for 36,248 agents. If we simply divide the days of absence by the number of agents, we obtain 39.6 days of absence on average per agent per year.

Except that the number of agents used here for the calculation does not correspond to the total workforce (unlike the other figures cited), but only to agents absent at least one day in the year (as indicated on page 246 of the social report unique). The same calculation on the entire workforce of the city of Paris would therefore lead to a mechanical reduction
