The festival, whose slogan is “Seasons of Creativity”, continues until the 14th of this month, with the participation of 15 theater shows in Tunisia.
This festival was established last year during the celebration of the anniversary of the establishment of the Tunisia National Theater Foundation in 1983, through which generations of playwrights have passed and presented immortal performances in the fourth world of art.
The play “The Commandments of the Rooster” was written by Mounir Al-Ammari and directed by Walid Al-Daghasni.
The play raises questions about the social and political reality through a critical and painful vision, while the director Walid Al-Deghesni presents this work in a new spirit that mixes black comedy and reflecting on the reality of Tunisian society, while at the same time dealing with the social and political changes. which has happened in Tunisia in recent years.
Moez Al-Murabit, General Director of the National Theater of Tunisia, told Al Ain News on the sidelines of the opening ceremony that this show celebrates the fourth art and honors the faces of Tunisian theatre.
He confirmed that the festival is an important platform to increase cultural awareness among the Tunisian population, and it represents part of the country’s strategy to support Tunisian theatre.
He explained that the works participating in this festival were chosen among 30 theater works submitted to participate, competing for financial prizes of 80,000 dinars ($26,000).
The awards include “Best Direction,” “Best Theatrical Script,” “Best Story,” and “Best Acting Performance” (for women and men), as well as the Award Great for Tunisian Theater Creativity.
At the opening ceremony, the late artist Yasser Jaradi, who died on August 12, was honored for his significant contribution to the field of art and music.
The program of the festival includes a series of cultural activities, the most prominent of which is an intellectual conference entitled “Tunisian Theater and the New Creative Challenges,” which will discuss four main themes: ” Theater and New Index,” “Theatre and the Future,” “Theatre Writing and New Dramatic Questions,” and “Theatre Criticism in the Mirror of Creators.
Visitors to the festival will enjoy a photo exhibition that documents eight years of theater work in Tunisia, and presents a group of images that emphasize the interaction between images and theater.
The festival ends with a theater performance called “Joking,” directed and performed by Lebanese theater artist Hanan Haj Ali. people who suffer from Israeli bombing.
