Nine Swiss sweated on NHL championship ice rinks during the night from Thursday to Friday. Two of them blackened the meter sheet. And only one scored a goal: New Jersey defender Jonas Siegenthaler (27 years old).
At the Prudential Center, where the Devils beat the Montreal Canadiens by sealing the score in an empty net (5-3), the Zurich native was credited with the 3-1 in the 31st minute.
This is his first goal since the start of the 2024-2025 regular season, his first achievement since December 21, 2023, the 9th goal of his career (328 matches).
Also aligned by Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe, Valais center Nico Hischier (25 years old, neutral differential) and Appenzell winger Timo Meier (28 years old, +1) did not improve their card.
An assist for Josi butter
Even though he provided an assist at Amerant Bank Arena against Florida, Bernese defender Roman Josi (34) lost again with Nashville (6-2), a team stuck in last place in the standings.
In Florida again, but in its Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Icelandic fullback Janis Moser (24 years old) also had to digest a disappointment with the Lightning beaten in overtime by Philadelphia (1-2 after). He skated for 25’36” and returned a -1.
Disappointment also for Philipp Kurashev (25 years old). The Bernese striker, who had to pass through the “dungeon” cage, recorded a setback with Chicago at the American Airlines Center in Dallas against the Stars (3-1). He was only lined up for 11’49” (-1).
Suter bat Fiala
At the Crypto.com Arena, the Helvetian duel between the Saint-Welsh winger from Los Angeles Kevin Fiala (28 years old) and the Zurich center from Vancouver Pius Suter (28 years old) smiled on the visitor (2-4).
At its Canada Life Centre, Winnipeg consolidated its throne as leader of the North American professional league by winning against Colorado (1-0). Graubünden winger Nino Niederreiter sweated for 18’45” in a Jets uniform.
