After the declarations of support and admiration of Maki Voridis and Thanos Pleuris for Donald Trump, the third former executive of the far-right LAOS Adonis Georgiadis entered the public debate, who in his interview on the First Program called the newly elected president of the USA a “political phenomenon” to be valued.
In fact, the Minister of Health, who had said in 2016 that he would vote for Trump “with his two hands”added that “I am not speaking now as a minister and as a member of parliament. I speak as a man who likes politics. We are talking about a completely unprecedented political phenomenon that the planet has never seen before. I want to remind you that during these four years that he was out of the White House, he was taken to a hundred courts of all kinds, none of which managed to harm him, almost most of his associates, from the first cycle of his presidency, have come out against him with books, with articles, with statements, that didn’t hurt him either. In most of the media in America almost every celebrity rallied against him. That didn’t hurt him either. It is a political phenomenon.”
Also, when asked if he was worried about America he said that “I am not an American citizen, nor can I judge what America will do. American citizens are responsible for their country. It’s not just the looming victory in the Trump presidency. Because we will see this definitively in a few hours. It will be the victory in the Senate and probably also in the Parliament. If it does, it is very rare in America. That is, if he also wins the House, he will have the presidency, the Senate, the House and the Supreme Court. The American Commonwealth has always had this system of checks and balances. Maybe with Reagan the 80’s were all over again.”
“Woke culture and illegal immigration”
Regarding the causes that led Donald Trump to victory, Adonis Georgiadis said that “woke culture in America had made American politics deplorable, to put it simply. The world reacted to it. And I can’t blame him for that, because really things have been done that are completely extreme. It’s one thing to have the noble sentiment of respecting other people’s rights, which I’m totally in favor of, and another thing to impose a certain point of view on the rest of society. I think the Democratic Party in America paid dearly for that, and I hope the planet doesn’t. The Western world is going through a major identity crisis. And the woke culture and illegal immigration reinforce this identity crisis very strongly.”
“The concerns about our country are unfounded”
Regarding the debate on whether Greek-American relations will be affected after Trump’s victory, the vice-president of the blue faction noted that “all the concerns that the Trump presidency will bring Turkey to the fore and Greece will have a big crisis, etc. that I have been hearing from various journalists these days, excuse me, in my opinion they are completely in the air. The F-35 block was done under Trump, the sanctions on Turkey were done under Trump.”
“The planet is going to the right”
Finally, Adonis Georgiadis, after saying that the Greece-US relationship has a strategic character, pointed out that “the planet is going to the right. Is today’s Left more right or left than the 15th? It is much more right is the answer. A party does not go further to the right, e.g. the New Democracy and the Voice of Reason. The entire political spectrum is moving to the right. This also happens in Europe, this happened apparently in America. The identity crisis is the explanation.”
