Paul Singer, for years characterized by Kirchnerism as Argentina’s number one public enemy, wants to be the United States ambassador in Buenos Aires when his friend Donald Trump wins. The pinnacle of the confrontation with Kirchnerism occurred in 2012, when through his investment fund Elliott Management, Singer seized the Frigate Libertad, which at that time was in the port of Tema, Ghana, during an instruction trip.
Singer was one of the great contributors to the magnate’s campaign. Sources from the Republican’s campaign told LPO that he would have contributed $41 million, not as much as Elon Musk who contributed more than $140 million, but it is a lot of money in the United States and anywhere else in the world.
Contributions of that magnitude make it possible to aspire to an embassy of those reserved for large donors. Buenos Aires is one of them. Singer’s closeness to Trump increased over the years to the point that the financier moved to Palm Beach, a place in Trump’s land.
