Swedish-based Mad Men Media will open a new radio channel in Finland in 2025.
According to the release, on Thursday, November 7, the Government has granted Mad Men Media a business license for the frequency vacated by Yle Puhe.
– The new radio operator will grow and diversify the radio media market. I am especially looking forward to the start of the new station’s independent news delivery, which I see is also socially important, says adviser Taina Roth in the press release.
The release does not indicate what kind of radio channel it is. At the center of everything, however, are the listeners.
Mad Men Media was founded in Sweden in 2012. The company was founded by Mattias Gustavsson, Robert Persson and Henrik Vibeck.
News of the termination of the Yle Puhe channel was reported in February 2023. The channel’s last broadcast date was January 7, 2024. The channel’s favorite program Radiourheiltu moved from Yle Puhe to Radio Suomi when the channel went silent.
Yle still has five national radio channels in FM distribution: Yle radio Suomi, Yle radio 1, Ylex, Yle Vega and Yle X3M.
