The fire​​​​ in a warehouse in Roosendaal this afternoon is under control, the safety department reports. Extinguishing the fire can take an hour.

The fire started around 12.30 pm in a warehouse full of plastic bottles. At the fire a lot of smoke was released. Therefore NL-Alert was sent several times in which local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed.

As the warehouse was close to the A17 motorway, motorists were advised to detour. The fire brigade was present in masse and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the area. No one was hurt.

Huge fire in Roosendaal warehouse

The safety department expects that it may take a long time before the fire is completely extinguished. Even when the fire is extinguished, a lot of smoke can still be released.

“It is a large warehouse in which a lot of flammable material is stored, and all of that has to be extinguished,” said a spokesman for the safety district. Omroep Brabant.

It is not yet clear how the fire started. It will be difficult to investigate the cause, according to the safety district: “The warehouse has collapsed. It is so difficult, so the question is whether anything can be removed.”
