Now it’s official: Nico Mannion he’s a new playerOlimpia Milan. The blue point guard, son of the former NBA player Pace Mannion and former volleyball player Gaia Bianchi, leaves Varese after less than a year. After the consensual resolution, Mannion signed a two-year contract with an option for a third, while Milan paid a buyout of around 300 thousand euros to Varese to make the Red Mamba available to Messina, who also had a past with the Golden State Warriors, as well as in Virtus Bologna. Milan is fresh from the terrible -34 suffered in Trento on the last day of the championship.
Mannion: “Proud and motivated”
“I am proud and deeply motivated to be part of such a prestigious company with its history” declared Mannion. “My intention is to make all the energy I have available to my staff and teammates to achieve the best results together with them. I will work hard every day, aiming to win as much as possible in all competitions. My desire is to demonstrate that I am a player worthy of this level, but, even more, I want to contribute to the club’s successes. I am open to learning as much as possible because I am aware that I still have great room for improvement as a player. Finally, I want to thank Olimpia for this opportunity and what was done to bring me to Milan.” At the beginning of the season Mannion had started with a notable turnover (he is the top scorer in the championship with 26.3 points on average and 29.3 rating), but he has only played 3 of the 6 championship games, all lost by Openjobmetis, now stuck in penultimate place of the ranking with one victory and 5 knockouts.
