PlayStation 5 Pro, the most powerful game console in the world, tested

For many users the new PlayStation 5 Pro is everything the original PS5 should have been… or almost. Because Sony has marked a before and after with this game console. The reason is subtle but impossible to miss: the disappearance of the Blu-ray optical disc reader.

With almost 17 Teraflops of power, the PS5 Pro not only smashes the 10 TF of the original model but also exceeds the 12 TF of the Xbox series In a way, it was the demand of this generation 5 years ago.

But uncontrolled Teraflops are not of much use, which is why Sony has focused them on its Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-assisted image rescue technology similar to Nvidia’s DLSS. With this, it promises an improvement in the simultaneous sharpness and resolution of video games.

Not only does it grow in power, it also grows in storage capacity. The original austere 850 GB are now 2 TB of SSD that maintain the great response speed, greater reliability and less consumption. Taking into account that AAA games usually exceed 100 Gb, this improvement was almost unpredictable.

Are the improvements of the new PlayStation 5 Pro really worth €700 or can we survive with the Slim version?

The design is similar in the curves, but it is thinner thanks to the absence of Blu-ray and somewhat taller. It now has a transverse band with three black lines and the same table support system as the PS5 Slim.

All this has a price and that price is €799. A figure that undoubtedly represents an increase over the original price of the PS5 or even the current price of the PS5 Slim. Is it worth the effort to pay so much money or can we survive with a more modest model? We are going to test it thoroughly and soon we will give you the answer
