BSP and ITN have signed a request to the Constitutional Court for the return of the old text in the Constitution, which would restore the power of the president to appoint the caretaker government. This was announced in an interview on BNR by left-wing MP Borislav Gutsanov. He pointed out that it was the changes in the basic law that led to the political crisis.
“There is no way to hold next elections under the same rules. The official cabinet is the one that should monitor the fairness of the vote. And is this an official office or is it political?” asked Gutsanov rhetorically. In his words, the introduced “house book” with candidates for acting prime minister means that “for some parties, this cabinet is also regular.” “Exactly the return of the Constitution is the problem, but the one adopted 33 years ago, and not this prematurity, which brought us into a constitutional crisis and the collapse of statehood for the second time,” said Gutsanov.
Therefore, according to him, it was not right for the PP-DB to erect a “sanitary cordon. Precisely PP-DB, which returned Borisov and Peevski to power and to the first places in the state, when they made this shameful assembly, to talk about a sanitary cordon is a bit cheeky,” Gutsanov also stated. He also added that it was the PP-DB that stood at the heart of the constitutional crisis that the state fell into because of the changes imposed by the formation in the basic law.
However, the two groups together have 38 people’s representatives, and 48 are needed for referral. Gutsanov did not comment on where they will get the missing 10 signatures.
The socialist also announced that, together with ITN, they also signed a request to the Constitutional Court for the counting of the vote, but did not specify details. And here, however, the problem arises with the lack of 10 signatures from people’s representatives.
