The president of the General Council of Dentists, the Murcia-based stomatologist from Madrid Óscar Castro Reino, has been appointed as vice president of the Professional Union (UP), the association that brings together the collegiate professions in Spain and is currently chaired by Dr. Tomás Cobo Castro, also head of the Collegiate Medical Organization. This appointment “represents important recognition of Dr. Castro’s career in the field of health and his dedication to defending the professional interests of dentistry,” says UP.
“It is an honor to assume the vice presidency of UP, made up of 36 General and Superior Councils and professional associations at the national level, which bring together more than 1,200 associations and territorial delegations and 1,500,000 registered professionals in Spanish territory,” says Óscar Castro.
Dr. Castro highlights that his objective in this new stage will be “to defend the role of the collegiate professions as guarantors of the public interest and the well-being of society.” To do this, it will strengthen interprofessional collaboration and supervise that the activities of any professional area “meet a high ethical and quality standard.”
