The seventh edition of the “VulvaForum”, the national medical congress which brings together dozens of gynecologists, dermatologists and other expert specialists in women’s intimate health from all over Italy, is scheduled for Friday 15th and Saturday 16th November at the Hotel Excelsior in Naples. The scientific director, promoter and organizer of the event is Paola Salzano, gynecologist and president of the Congress together with the gynecologist Alessandra Graziottin and the dermatologist Pietro Lippa.
This year too – we read in the presentation of the event – the common thread of the forum will be multidisciplinarity, with an integrated clinical vision between different specialists in order to share a unitary, significant and relevant vision of the different vulvar pathologies as well as vaginal comorbidities, bladder, intestinal and systemic systems that accompany them and sometimes feed them. The objective of the forum is to update on the pathophysiology, diagnostics and therapy of vulvar pathology and associated comorbidities with an exquisitely clinical perspective capable of improving the ability of specialists to be competent, empathetic doctors capable of effectively treating women.
The reports of the approximately 70 specialists arriving from all over Italy will offer the approximately 300 participants in the Congress, over the various scheduled sessions, innovative insights on emerging topics such as the vaginal microbiome throughout life, sexual fluidity and transsexualism, the vulvodynia, the sleep-wake rhythm and the consequent endocrine and metabolic alterations in women. And again hormone replacement therapy and obstetric errors, avoidable and inevitable; daily clinical gynecological and obstetric problems, as well as the reinterpretation of neglected problems for which it is now possible to propose a new stimulating and effective diagnostic and therapeutic pragmatism.
Among the topics that will be explored in depth during the two days of work are also sexually transmitted infections, pain and the vulvar and vaginal microbiome, the diagnostics and therapy of the various vulvar lesions detected daily in clinics, vulvar oncological pathologies, menopause and therapies hormone replacement, late maternity and the prevention of obstetric damage.
The conference will be introduced by Luigi Terracciano, head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the San Paolo Hospital in Naples – ASL Napoli 1 Centro. At the opening of the Congress, great importance will also be given to the presentation of the “Pink Path”, 15 years of activities against domestic and sexual violence carried out at the San Paolo Hospital by a group of experts and specialists in the sector, coordinated by the psychologist Maria Grazia Vinti and the gynecologist Alessandro Resta, and which sees, among others, also involved in the field the scientific director of the Conference Paola Salzano who works daily at the San Paolo after years of activity and experience in numerous clinics and other hospitals.
The social program of the event includes tours and guided itineraries in the historic center of Naples between art, culture and science, with stops at the SS Hospital. Annunziata, the Wheel of Exhibits and the Church, the former Peace Hospital, the Lazzaretto Hall and the Chapel of San Gennaro.
