Head coach Kingsley Jones has announced the lineup for Canada’s men’s rugby team that will face Chile on Saturday, November 9.
Kickoff will be at 3 a.m. PST / 6 a.m. EST / 1 p.m. local time at Stadionul Arcul de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest, Romania. This will be the first meeting between these two teams since 2021, and the first of two games for Canada in November.
Pacific Pride Development Academy player Noah Flesch, who made his debut with Canada’s men’s sevens rugby team last February at HSBC SVNS Vancouver, will earn his first cap as a three-quarter center in the XV departure from Canada, alongside his brother Mason Flesch.
Experienced RFC LA flanker Matt Heaton returns to the field for the first time since 2021, while Pacific Pride’s Kaden Duguid earned his fourth consecutive international start, having made his first cap for Canada in August during the Pacific Nations Cup.
Mitch Richardson could make his return after missing the Pacific Nations Cup due to injury. Forwards Jesse Mackail and Tyler Matchem, who will start the match on the bench, will also look to make an impact by taking the field for what would be their second caps for Canada.
“We arrived in Romania last week and the team immediately got to work, continuing the work started earlier this year in Ottawa and throughout the Pacific Nations Cup,” said Kingsley Jones. We will face two good opponents in Romania, starting with Chile, and it will be a valuable test and challenge for our team. »
Live streaming information will be announced soon.
