Quinn Hughes is the third-fastest defenseman to reach 300 assists

<a href="https://www.world-today-news.com/nhl-rumors-too-much-matt-dumba-in-minnesota/" title="NHL Rumors: Too Much Matt Dumba in Minnesota?”>Quinn Hughes could one day become the best defender to ever play for the Vancouver Cancucks and this week he reached another major milestone in his career, with his 300th assist.

Quinn Hughes reached his 300th assist in the NHL Tuesday afternoon during the Canucks’ 5-1 win over Anaheim.

His assist came in just 376 games, making Hughes the fastest player in Canucks history to reach this milestone. Hughes also became the third-fastest defenseman in NHL history to reach 300, behind only Bobby Orr and Brian Leetch.

Speaking after the game, Hughes was quick to thank his teammates and Vancouver staff, before giving credit to teammate Elias Pettersson who scored the vital goal.

“I’m obviously very lucky, it’s been a lot of fun playing here in Vancouver. I made so many great friends and played with so many great players.

“There are a lot of people who contributed to this and I’m happy that Petey [Elias Pettersson] Understood [goal] because it didn’t work without him in front, it was a big screen.”

Hughes reiterated that his assists are possibly only made by his teammates on the ice, in what was a humble postgame interview from an extremely special player.

“I just feel very lucky. I’m lucky to have had the great teammates that I’ve had. It’s been a fun six years and I hope there are many more to come.

The Canucks started this season flying with a 6-2-3 record, and their win against the Ducks on Tuesday snapped back-to-back league victories.

Vancouver will face the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night in a test that will truly test them, as the Kings have already won eight games this year with a fast start.
