Outsiders Murcianos arrives for another season. In this section we review what happens to players, coaches and other athletes in the world of basketball who are from our land but who compete outside the Region of Murcia. If you know of an “outsider” who does not appear on the list, you can send us the information to [email protected] so we can include them and follow up.
EXPLANATORY NOTE: in this list we include players, coaches and trainers who compete OUTSIDE OUR REGION and in CLUBS THAT ARE NOT FROM THE REGION (we would go crazy otherwise…).
- Chumi Ortega, Álex Hernández, Luismi Castillo and Cristobal Sánchez (Endesa League)
Chumi Ortega will play this season for Morabanc Andorra, after being one of the most outstanding players last season at Zunder Palencia. Defeat of the Andorran team on the Hiopos Lleida court (80-70), with 5 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assists for the Yeclano. Ninth position for those from the Principality (3-3), who receive UCAM Murcia CB this Saturday (6:00 p.m.).
Álex Hernández achieved promotion to the Endesa League a few months ago, as captain of Leyma Coruña. Defeat of the Coruña team on Barça’s court (106-80), in a match where Álex did not play. The Galicians are fifteenth (2-4), and this Sunday (5:00 p.m.) they will host La Laguna Tenerife.
Luismi Castillo and Cristobal Sánchez did not whistle in matches in ACB last weekend.
- Laura Gil, Isa Latorre and Franky García (LF Endesa)
One more season, Laura Gil will be one of the references in the painting of Perfumerías Avenida. Defeat of the Salamanca team at home against Spar Gran Canaria (67-74) with 2 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists from the Murcian. Fourth position for the Castilian-Leonese club (3-2), which on November 14 will visit the IDK Euskotren track (7:30 p.m.).
In the Euroleague they are in second position in Group A (2-2). He will not compete in the Euroleague again until November 20, when he will visit the court of his former team Basket Landes (7:30 p.m.).
Point guard Isa Latorre signed this summer for Movistar Estudiantes, making the jump to LF Endesa after several seasons at Recoletas Zamora. The Madrid team won on the Joventut de Badalona court (73-76) with 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists from Alcantarilla. Sixth position in the league (3-2), before facing Casademont Zaragoza in Magariños on November 14 (20:30).
In Eurocup they are in second position in Group G (3-1). Next continental match, on November 20 at home against Iraklis STIHL (20:00).
Finally, assistant Franky García joined the Lointek Gernika discipline this summer to be part of the coaching staff led by Lucas Fernández, with whom he coincided at Hozono Global Jairis. Defeat on the Cadí La Seu court (65-62), which places the Basques in eleventh position (2-3). Next match, on December 14 at home against Baxi Ferrol (20:00).
- Juan Rubio and Alberto Antuña (First FEB)
Movistar Estudiantes aims to be one of the favorites to achieve promotion to the Endesa League for next season with Juan Rubio on the squad and Alberto Antuña as assistant coach. Victory against Hestia Menorca in the Balearic Islands (66-77) with 8 points and 6 rebounds from Murcia. Fifth place for the Madrid team (5-1), who will host Real Betis Baloncesto this Sunday (6:00 p.m.).
- Alejandra Sánchez and Ana Faussurier (LF Challenge)
In the second step of national women’s basketball we find Alejandra Sánchez from San Javier, who after leaving Hozono Global Jairis has signed for Melilla Ciudad del Deporte La Salle. Defeat on the Recoletas Zamora court (73-66) with 2 rebounds and 1 assist from Alejandra. Fourth place (4-2), with the next day’s match against La Cordá de Paterna NB postponed.
After achieving promotion to LF Endesa with Osés Construction Ardoi, Ana Faussurier signed this summer for Alter Enersun CB Al-Qázeres. Victory at home against CB Arxil (68-50) with 8 points and 1 rebound. Seventh position (3-3), before visiting the Domusa Teknik ISB court on November 20 (20:00).
- Antonio José Morales, Emilio Martínez, Fran Olmos and Juan S. Cutillas* (Second FEB)
This year we will have two representatives of our basketball in the third national echelon. Antonio José Morales will repeat at Clínica Ponferrada SDP, which saved the category and will continue in the formerly known as LEB Plata. Defeat against Ciudad de Huelva (77-68) despite Lorca’s 10 points and 3 rebounds. Seventh position in the West Group (3-2), before receiving Rioverde Clavijo this Saturday (9:30 p.m.).
Second season for Emilio Martínez directing the game of CB Salou, where he will coincide with old acquaintances from regional basketball such as Víctor Aguilar or Juanpe Jiménez, both with a past at Odilo FC Cartagena. The duel against CB Prat was not played. Eleventh position in the East Group (1-3), with their next match against CB L’Horta Godella postponed.
Finally, referee Fran Olmos did not whistle in Second FEB this past weekend.
- Iraides García (Women’s League 2)
After achieving promotion last year, Iraides García will continue at CB Terralfàs Delfín Natura in the Women’s League 2. The duel against Segle XXI was postponed. Thirteenth position in Group A (1-3), before hosting DPES CB Ciudad de Móstoles next Sunday.
- Ismael Rubio, Adrián Méndez, Miguel Alarcón, Juan S. Cutillas, Cristina Sanz, Joaquín Martínez, Óscar Santos, María José Molina, Álvaro Jiménez and Fran García* (Tercera FEB)
In the fourth national step, Ismael Rubio from Lumbreras will repeat, who will once again defend the colors of LBC Cocinas.com from Rioja. Victory against Restaurante Los Arcos CB Solar (77-81), without playing the one from Puerto Lumbreras. Leading Group AA (4-0), before visiting the Castillo de Gorraiz Valle Egües court on Sunday (12:00).
For his part, after La Roda’s relegation from LEB Plata, forward Adrián Méndez signed this summer for Globalcaja Quintanar and will play in Tercera FEB with the Cuenca team. Third position in Group BB (3-1), before visiting the Zentro Basket Madrid court on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
In the refereeing section, Álvaro Jiménez whistled the UCAM Murcia Juver 96-95 Eset Ontinet together with Nuria Aracil.
- Leire Zapata and Aitana Ruiz (N1 Women’s Andalusia)
They will share a team in Malaga, specifically in the ranks of CB El Palo, the Murcians Leire Zapata and Aitana Ruiz. No day last weekend. Sixth position in the league (1-1) before visiting Unicaja Andalucía 09-10 on November 8 at 8:00 p.m. (match postponed) and CB Andersen on Sunday, November 10 starting at 12:00.
- Javi Velasco (First National Men’s)

- Be Almansa (NBL – Australia)
The center from Murcia, after playing last season in the G-League with Ignite, has decided to sign for the Perth Wildcats with the aim of preparing to make the jump to the NBA through the Next Stars project of the Australian league. Victory against Illawarra Hawks (113-105) with 4 points and 4 rebounds from Izan; On the other hand, defeat against SE Melbourne Phoenix (100-76) with 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 recoveries for the Murcian center. Sixth place, with a balance of 4-5. This Thursday they face Tasmania JackJumpers (9:30 p.m. local time).
- Valentino Pinedo (NCAA – United States)
After playing last year with the East Carolina University Pirates, the Murcian center will play at the University of Saint Francis. In this way, it will compete in the Northeast Conference of the American university league. Defeat against Dayton (87-57) with 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block from Murcia. Eighth position in the NorthEast Conference (0-1). Next game, on Friday (7:00 p.m. local time) against Clemson.
- Marcela Pinedo (NJCAA Region X – United States)
The player will play her second season with the Laramie County Community College Eagles jersey, in Region IX of the NJCAA. Defeat at Air Force Prep (58-55) despite 9 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks. Next match, November 8 against McCook Community College. 0-1 in the DI North.
- Andrea López (CN2 – Portugal)
Andrea López, former player for Real Murcia, Maristas or Marme among others, will compete this year in Portugal’s CN2 with Club 5Basket. Victory against AAUTAD (93-42). First position in North Group C (4-0). Next match, on November 17 (10:00 p.m.) against FCS BC Campo.
- Pedro González (BBL – Germany)
The physical trainer Pedro González will continue on the coaching staff of the German Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, in the Bundesliga. Defeat at home against Bayern Münich (72-90). Eleventh place in the league (2-3) before facing Wurzburg (Sunday at 3:00 p.m.).
In the FIBA Europe Cup the German team beat Keravnos BC (78-71), placing themselves in second position in Group A with a balance of 3-2.
