Important future decision for the German volleyball players!
National coach Michal Winiarski (41) will remain primarily responsible for the men’s national team until 2028. The German Volleyball Association (DVV) announced on Wednesday afternoon that the contract with the Pole had been extended.

Winiarski: “I am very happy to continue working with the German men’s national team. We have made great progress over the last three years and want to continue to improve year on year. We have a very good team, but we will also have to develop and integrate new players.
Goal: 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. After qualifying for the Olympics for the first time since 2012 and the men’s strong performances at the Games in Paris (5th place), the association and Winiarski are heading towards the USA Games together.

This is not a given, as there have recently been rumors about Winiarski becoming a national coach in Japan. In addition to his work as Germany coach, the former world-class player (including world champion in 2014) also continues to look after the Polish first division team Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.

Head national coach Christian Dünes praises: “He is an outstanding coach who has great volleyball expertise and has already achieved a lot in recent years. He harmonizes well with the team and has brought our men back to the top of the world. He is passionate about sport and success. With him we can look forward to the coming years very positively.”
Our volley stars are also happy about the extension. Setter Johannes Tille (27) told BILD: “For me he is the perfect coach. He manages to bring a team together and has formed a real unit in recent years.” Star middle blocker Tobias Krick (26/1.4 million followers on Instagram) also sees it this way: “With him we can master the road to Los Angeles .”
